However, for some, the cold weather brings with it SAD. SAD is an acronym for seasonal affectiveness disorder which means that instead of hot with the holidays and cool weather, it’s depression. This is a direct correlation of their brain and has nothing to do with the fault of the individual person. There are millions of people who struggle with this disorder every year and if you’re one of those people, you know how difficult it can be.

The first thing you should do if you think you might have SAD is to get in touch with your doctor. Though this can be difficult, it’s important to know that a physician knows what’s you’re going through ¬†and can help you treat it if necessary. It’s important to understand that much like any physical illness, mental illness is something that people can not control. It has to do with an imbalance of chemicals in your brain, so talking to your doctor should always be the first step.

Some studies have suggested that the lack of sun in cold weather seasons may be to blame for SAD. This means that you should increase your time outdoors if and when possible.
